About
Plant Pixel was created by Will Pepi as a PhD student in collaboration with architect Josh Draper at the Center for Architecture Science and Ecology (CASE).
Will is interested in helping people and nature thrive. He has a background in mathematics, architecture, electrical and systems engineering, and plant biology.
Will runs a startup called BIOM Technologies that develops and builds cutting edge moss biofiltration systems for commercial, institutional, and high-end buildings. Plant Pixel is an spinoff project of BIOM.
The goal of Plant Pixel is to make plant-based air purification accessible to everyone.
Plant Pixel leverages established technology developed by NASA in the 1980s. The patents on using potted house plants as air filters have mostly expired, so anyone can build and even sell Plant Pixels under our open source licensing agreements.

Mission
To create and share open source botanical biofilter technologies that create clean air and sustainable environments for everyone. (Shown left is an example project by several architecture students.)

Vision
Nearly every breath we take today is laced with low-dose poison. We want to change that. We believe botanical biofilters can provide the health and energy value-add required for economically sustainable proliferation throughout the built environment.
Team
We are a passionate group of engineers, biologists, artists, and makers dedicated to open collaboration, botanical innovation, and beautiful designs.
